– EV Updates 2022
This week, Tesla lost its leading position in the electric vehicle range, which took place after the arrival of the 2012 Model S.
The Model S then delivered 265 EPA miles, surpassed the 300-mile hurdle in 2016, and has now reached 405 miles in long-distance form. But Silicon Valley rival Lucid Motors has come to the fore with its air sedan, rated up to 520 miles by the EPA last week.
In 2010, Tesla co-founder Martin Eberhard, when he was director of EV engineering at VW’s Palo Alto Laboratory in California, predicted that EVs would have a range of 500 miles or more in 10 years. He was only dormant for a year or more.
Achieving 500 miles on a single charge with a “normal” car has been the goal for many years, and we think the limit is a red herring when it comes to focusing on performance and charging. . All indications are that Lucid is also going to be the technology leader for performance.
Most importantly, we are finally at a point where not only Tesla but many EVs offer a range of 300 miles or more. In years of research, the U.S. respondent said 300 miles is a pleasant place that would allow more families to consider EVs.

Unless otherwise noted, prices include targeted fees. Although there are many models in the line that are over 300 miles, we only list each model once. Although some of the models on the list have not yet been delivered, we have limited the list to models with a confirmed rating. FuelEconomy.gov.
