The midsize SUV segment sold a total of 38,199 units compared to 32,930 units during the same period last year as it moved comfortably out of the compact SUV space. This was mainly due to the arrival of new five- and seven-seater midsize SUVs in a fast succession in India.

The sub-four-meter SUV segment includes Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonnet, Tata Nexon, Nissan Magnet, Renault Kiger, Mahindra XUV 300 and more. It gained a total of 33,301 units last month, compared to 41,277 units in the same period in 2020, ending in second place with YoY negative growth of 19 per cent.
The cumulative domestic number of MUVs was 24,119 units against 27,448 units with 12 per cent YoY de-growth. The premium hatchback ranks fourth ahead of the space compact hatchback, entry level hatchback and compact sedan segments. It had registered 22,232 units against 40,903 units in the same month in 2020, a decline of 46 per cent.
In ninth place, the executive sedan segment recorded 5,842 units in September 2021, a 27 per cent de-growth against 7,963 units, while the lifestyle offroader space, premium SUVs, luxury sedans and premium sedan segments had 22,357 units. Respectively.
